Bethany’s 2nd birthday

Today was Bethany’s 2nd birthday.

We had Rose for the day and Tina and Finlay came along too.

Mum also joined us for lunch so we had a busy day with lots of people to help her celebrate it.

She was a very lucky girl with lots of new toys to play with and clothes to wear. There’s so many I can’t list them but I will say we bought her a little touch leap pad so she has one like Amie!

Grandma and the 2 grandad’s joined us for a birthday tea of chicken casserole followed by a pink pig birthday cake!

Thanks to everyone who bought her gifts, to my shame I’m well aware I haven’t sent thank you cards yet and I promise they are on their way!

Amie’s first day back at nursery

Amie started back at nursery today after the summer break.

She was a bit apprehensive about going back as she knew most of her friends wouldn’t be there as they had started big school.

However I told her that she was going to be one of the older children so she would need to look after all the younger children who might be a bit frightened and needed a friend.

She had a lovely morning and came home with a well done sticker!

Well done Amie, we are very proud of you.

Jim and Rachel’s wedding

We went to Dunston Hall this afternoon for Jim and Rachel’s wedding and had a fab day.

They had gorgeous weather and a great time was had by all.

Have a look in the gallery for some very lovely pictures.

The girls looked gorgeous in their matching dresses, shoes and handbags!

Congrats to you both, hope you have many happy years together!

My Birthday

Today was my birthday (another year older!)

I had a lovely day with Mum and Dad, they took the girls and I out to lunch at the Dolphin pub in Thorpeness (somewhere I’ve always wanted to go!). I love that part of Suffolk and wish I could go much more often.

I got very spoilt and thank you all for your lovely gifts. Amogst them were handbags, jewellery, money, perfume and a very lovely willow tree figurine.

In the evening, James and I went to the Belgian Monk for food and alcohol (lots of both).

Thanks to everyone who were able to join us.

An update….

Well apologies for the lack of postings, life has been very busy and hectic here just recently.

I have been childminding full time since coming back off our hols so it’s just made the days and weeks fly by!

I have treated us to some new dining room chairs (and curtains to follow), which are lovely but not exactly child friendly. I enlisted mum’s help to make some covers for them and they seem to be working very well.

Weekends have also been very busy for us, catching up with friends and family. We went to a wedding at the beginning of July which was lovely, James spent a day gambling on Jim’s stag party (lots of alcohol consumed along with lots of money won and lost by various people!)

I’m sure we’ve done loads of other things but can’t think off the top of my head!

I’ll try and update a bit more regularly but right now I have a roast to cook!

Holiday

Well for those of you who don’t know (which is hardly anyone), we’ve just returned from a two week trip to Ireland!

We went on the 9th June, drove to Holyhead which was a good 6 hour drive! Then we caught the Ferry to Dublin and had just over an hours drive once we were in Dublin.

On arrival, the owner of the cottage showed us round, it was on a dairy farm so the girls enjoyed the site of cows every day! However it did take Bethany two weeks to realise that cows Moo instead of Baa!

The cottage was very large and there was certainately enough room for us!

We visited various sites (despite the rain). The most memorable for us were the Japenese gardens, Newgrange, Kilkenny, Dublin Zoo to name but a few.

We went to Dublin Zoo and the girls had a fantastic time. Amie decided she was going to roar at a Tiger (see below). Fortunately for her the tiger was behind glass. She had no idea what he would have done to her if he wasn’t!

We also saw a baby giraffe there, he was 3 weeks old and already 6 foot tall!

Feel free to have a look in the photo Gallery of some of the fantastic pictures James took.

You will also see some of some friends we went up with while we were there.

Curly hair

That is Amie’s new request! She wants curly hair.

I’ve convinced her now to eat her crusts to make her hair go curly so I had to think of something else when, after a week, it failed to go curly!

So today, I plaited her hair and informed her that when I take the plaits out it will be curly. You should have seen the smile on her face when she saw it. So tonight, after her bath, I gave her 7 little plaits to sleep in. I do hope it’s lovely and curly tomorrow otherwise I’ll be in trouble!

***edit*** well the update is that a certain young lady had very pretty curly (well wavy) hair and she was chuffed to bits with it. Sadly she was very upset when I told her they wouldn’t stay in!

It’s too bad I’m going to have it cut a lot shorter tomorrow (unless the hairdresser talks me out of it!)

A new toy

We received delivery of our long awaited swing for the garden last week.

We ordered it at the beginning of May and much to my disgust we received it at the beginning of June…be warned if you ever order anything from Mothercare online!

Anyway, it’s here now and thanks to Grandad Thomas (who gave up a whole day of his holiday to assemble it for us!) it is up and almost play worthy. It just needs anchoring down to stop the children from falling off it!

It is green and yellow and has two swings (one of which has been replaced with a baby seat for Bethany) and it also has a glider (see saw) anyone who pushes amie on that has to sing “see saw majory daw!

I’ll post a piccy of it later, in the meantime, thanks again to Dad. I know you wanted to go out and not spend the whole day assembling a swing!

Amie and Bethany were dancing to the BBC’s show Any Dream Will Do and daddy videod it.

Bethany made the odd Cameo appearance with her disappearing act. Who knows, maybe we’ll see them on the west end stage yet!!!
