New Years Eve….

…was a bit of a non event!

I managed to catch the flu and spent the day in bed! I then lay on the sofa all evening before going to bed at 10pm!

Apologies to Howard and Leah who were due to come over but we had to cancel because of my germs!

Dinner with Kev and Julie

We went to Kev and Julie’s tonight for dinner. The children all had a little play and then had Sausage, mash and beans folowed by strawberry angel delight.

After another play they went to bed. Unfortunately Amie decided she wanted to be in Harvey’s room which he wasn’t too keen about as she kept going in his room when he was trying to sleep!

She eventually gave up and they went to sleep peacefully. Julie provided us with a very nice Roast Beef dinner and I followed it up with a chocolate fondue which we dipped strawberries, grapes, bananas, marshmallow and chocolate brownies into it. Apparently I made it too chocolately though!!!!

We then had a very civil game of cards before heading off home to bed.

Thanks guys for a fantastic meal and a lovely evening.

Boxing Day

We had a quiet day today to recover from the festivities the previous day.

Andrew, Debbie, Danielle and Callum came over in the morning, they had a bit of breakfast with us and the children all played very nicely together.

The rest of the day was very quiet and we had Turkey and chips for tea!

Happy Christmas

We had a lovely day with family today.

James and I spent the morning with the girls. Opening and playing with their presents. The girls brought me the Jaime Oliver cookbook and they bought daddy a t-shirt and two huuuggggeeee boxes of cadburys fingers which are one of his favourites.

Mum and Dad got here about 12ish and we exchanged gifts with them (which took quite some time!). The girls’ main pressies off them was an interactive doll for Amie and a disney princess chair for Bethany. They also had a dolls highchair to share and a baby annabell bouncy chair to share.

Beryl and Richard got her around 2.15, we had lunch and then exchanged gifts with them. They bought Amie a Dora Scooter and helmet and a princess castle for Bethany. They also brought them both a very pretty outfit of top and trousers which were very frilly and girly!

Both parents very kindly gave James and myself money and we gave them a tea towel with amie’s handprints on along with her nursery friends and a scrapbook each which I spent a lot of time doing over the past year!

I put together all the photos of the milestones the girls have acheived and decorated it with pretty papers, flowers, hearts and lots of other decoration. It is the first time I have tried my hand at scrapbooking and I am very pleased with the results! It took a lot of effort and patience and it kept me away from my family for a while but it was worth it! I now have to do one for us.

The girls were spoilt rotten so I wont list everything they were given but just to give our thanks to everyone who brought us all gifts. They were all very much appreciated and the girls pressies will be well played with or well used!

Happy Christmas to all our friends and family and thank you to Mum and Dad and Beryl and Richard for a lovely Christmas day.

Christmas Eve…

Well today is the day before the big day!

We had plans not to get Amie too excited, unfortunately that failed miserably so I think we might be in for an early morning wake up call!

We went to Grandma and Grandads today to pick up the meat. Thanks Richard who supplied us with a humungous turkey (might be nipping over the road to hijack their oven!), sausage meat, sausages in bacon, sausages and bacon for our brekkie, diced turkey thigh, cooked ham and a huge block of pate….we wont need to shop for a while!

We had lunch with them and then came home to get ready for the big man’s arrival and to get Bethany off to bed.

The girls and Daddy watched polar express (it has to be watched on Christmas Eve) while I got the veggies and stuffing ready for tomorrow.

By the looks of it, we might have to invite a few more people to eat the food I have laid on!

If all goes to plan, we’ll have prawn cocktail or soup for starters followed by citrus roasted turkey with nicely spiced sausagemeat stuffing, roast potatoes and sweet potatoes with Rosemary, red cabbage in cider and apple, caramalised carrots with red onion, buttered leeks, broccoli, peas and yourkshire puds…..

Amie left a present for Father Christmas tonight, he had a cookie, mince pie, a huuuugggggeeee glass of whiskey and a carrot for Rudolph. By the looks of the crumbs, it was very much enjoyed!

A visit from Annette and Rose

Our good friends Annette and Rose came over today.

I’m going to be childminding Rose in the new year so they came today for a visit so Rosie can get used to us (it takes a lot!)

Unfortunately she got a bit freaked by Trip initially as he came charging down from upstairs at a rate of knots and frightened the life out of the poor girl but she seemed to have a lovely time playing with Amie and Amie enjoyed having someone to mother!

Looks like they will both have a nice time playing together in a few weeks!

A very grown up girl!

Amie has had a few trims from my mum in the past and went to the hairdressers for the first time a while back for a little trim but today she went for a big cut.

Her hair was fairly long and we had it cut to an above the shoulder bob!!!!!!!!! I will post a before and after picture soon!

I was terrified that I would hate it and mum said don’t go too short in case we didn’t like it but I decided to go just above the shoulders!

The main reason was because she hates having it brushed, wont have it tied up and because it’s so fine and flyaway it was constantly knotty.

I have to say she was a little star in the hairdressers. The lady said it would be easier if she sat on the chair on her own, so she got her a booster seat and lifted the chair up so she was really high but she just loved watching herself in the mirrror. She took some of her hair home and had a lollipop……she looks so grown up now though!!!!

Well done Amie, I’m so proud of you!

A first trip to the cinema!

We took Amie to the cinema today to see happy feet (a film about dancing penguins for those who don’t know!)

It was a cute film, it was a bit lacking in story for us adults but somehow I don’t think it was intended for us!

Amie enjoyed it (which was the main thing) especially the popcorn (or sweetcorn as she called it?!) and then we took her to dinner at Nandos.

We had a lovely time with her, it’s been a very long time since we did something together with just her so we all had a lovely day.

Mum and Dad completely gave up their weekend as they babysat for us on the saturday and stayed saturday night so they could look after bethany while we went out.

They took her visiting to some friends though so she had a nice day with nanny and Grandad.

Thank you to you both for giving up your weekend for us.
